Chartwell implements new front office software to streamline and record advice process

Chartwell Group has overhauled its advice process with a new point-of-sale system from Distribution Technology.

The Bath-based group said its telephone-based advisers would start using the front office software, called Dynamic Point of Sale, immediately.

The system aims to streamline and record financial planning and will be gradually introduced to the firm’s face-to-face advice team, said Rob Hudson, group director of Chartwell.

The model for us is Dynamic Point of Sale and platform,’ said Hudson. ‘This will allow us to effectively service a large number of clients per adviser which clearly has many benefits and will impact on profitability.’ Telephone-based advisers would work with a maximum of 200 clients while the financial planners working face-to-face would have around 90 clients, said Hudson.

Chartwell Group also plans to change its investment approach to discretionary model portfolios run off platforms from its own distributor influenced funds. Chartwell said the Distribution Technology system would feed into its white labelled version of the Ascentric wrap, which it adopted in April. Chartwell will also launch a direct to consumer platform next year.

Distribution Technology said its new software was limited to large advice firms like Chartwell but would be offered to smaller businesses in 2010. The software rolls fact finding, financial planning and client management tools into one package.
