Prudential wins award for their online Retirement Calculator, powered by Distribution Technology.

In March 2009, Prudential won the Financial Services Revolution Award for their Retirement Calculator. The website was created by an internal team, but the financial calculations supporting the application came from Distribution Technology.

Prudential set out to engage consumers in the retirement planning process and created the Retirement Calculator, offering a service that was simple to navigate and highly visual, so making the journey easy and quick to understand. The application balances the expected retirement age and income with current contributions and savings. This way, the user can see whether they are on track to support their retirement, and are presented with options on how to they can change their situation if they are not. Changes in the value of investments and contributions are reflected in the graphics in real-time due to the powerful nature of the Distribution Technology Planning and Sales Platform.

Uptake in usage has exceeded all expectations. Visitor numbers were up by 20%, and registrations were 50% greater than anticipated. The calculator has proved to be a fantastic brand awareness and lead generator tool for both Prudential and IFAs. Prudential has managed to become an online educator and facilitator in planning for retirement.

Prudential's Head of Online & eCommerce, Steven Zuanella said:

We have always known that our Retirement Planning service was a market leading proposition and it's great to get this level of external recognition. Having recently integrated the Retirement Calculator with our main consumer website, pru.co.uk, we now look forward with confidence to the ongoing development of the service for consumers and our corporate clients.
